DEFENSEWERX Text Messaging Terms of Use

By “Opting In” to or using a “Text Message Service” (as defined below) from DEFENSEWERX, you accept these Terms & Conditions.

This agreement is between you and DEFENSEWERX or one of its affiliates. All references to “DEFENSEWERX,” “we,” “our,” or “us” refer to DEFENSEWERX, 1140 John Sims Pkwy E, Niceville FL 32578.

Definitions

“Opting In,” “Opt In,” and “Opt-In” refer to requesting, joining, agreeing to, enrolling in, signing up for, acknowledging, responding to, or otherwise consenting to receive one or more text messages.

“Text Message Service” includes any arrangement or situation in which we send one or more messages addressed to your mobile phone number, including text messages (such as SMS, MMS, or successor protocols or technologies). 

How You Opt In to Text Messages

DEFENSEWERX collects consent to send text messages verbally and in writing during direct, one-to-one business interactions. We do not collect phone numbers for this service through web sign-up forms, text-message keywords, purchased lists, third-party data providers, or bulk sign-up campaigns. 

You opt in when you provide your mobile number directly to a DEFENSEWERX employee in one of the following ways: 

  • Verbally, when you contact the DEFENSEWERX IT Service Desk by phone or in person and provide your mobile number so that a technician can follow up with you by text.
  • Verbally or in writing, when you exchange contact information with a DEFENSEWERX employee in the course of a working relationship — for example, as a government or industry partner, an innovation hub participant, or a vendor.
  • In writing, when you provide a mobile number to a DEFENSEWERX employee for coordination of a specific event, meeting, or project in which you are already participating.

At the time your number is collected, the DEFENSEWERX employee will tell you that you will receive conversational text messages from DEFENSEWERX, that message frequency varies, that message and data rates may apply, that you may reply HELP for support or STOP at any time to unsubscribe, and that your phone number will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

The first text message you receive from a DEFENSEWERX number will restate this information and include a link to this page. If you did not intend to opt in, reply STOP to that message and you will receive no further messages from that number.

Types of Messages You Will Receive

This service carries conversational, person-to-person messages typed and sent by a named DEFENSEWERX employee from an individually assigned work phone number.
Messages include:

  • IT support and help desk follow-up
  • Meeting, project, and logistics coordination
  • Event and innovation hub participation details
  • Replies to messages you send to a DEFENSEWERX employee

DEFENSEWERX does not send marketing, promotional, advertising, fundraising, or bulk messages through this service. Messages are not automated and are not generated by an application programming interface

Consenting to Text Messaging

By consenting to receive text messages from us, you agree to these Text Messaging Terms and Conditions, as well as our General Terms & Conditions and our General Privacy Policy, each incorporated herein by reference.

E-Sign Disclosure

By agreeing to receive text messages, you also consent to the use of an electronic record to document your agreement. You may withdraw your consent to the use of the electronic record by replying STOP.

DEFENSEWERX Text Message Service Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy. We only use the information you provide through this service to transmit your mobile messages and respond to you. This includes, but isn’t limited to, sharing information with platform providers, phone companies, and other vendors who assist us in the delivery of mobile messages. 

WE DON’T SELL, RENT, LOAN, TRADE, LEASE, OR OTHERWISE TRANSFER FOR PROFIT ANY PHONE NUMBERS OR CUSTOMER INFORMATION COLLECTED THROUGH THE SERVICE TO ANY THIRD PARTY. 

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. 

Nonetheless, we reserve the right always to disclose any information necessary to satisfy any law, regulation, or governmental request, to avoid liability, or to protect our rights or property. 

This Text Message Service Privacy Policy applies to your use of the Text Message Service and isn’t intended to modify our General Privacy Policy, incorporated by reference above, which may govern the relationship between you and us in other contexts.

Cost of Text Messages

We do not charge you for the messages you send and receive via this text message service. But message and data rates may apply, so depending on your plan with your wireless or other applicable provider, you may be charged by your carrier or other applicable provider.

Frequency of Text Messages

This Text Messaging Service is for conversational person-to-person communication between you and our employees. We may send you an initial message providing details about the service. After that, the number of text messages you receive will vary depending on how you use our services and whether you take steps to generate more text messages from us (such as by sending a HELP request).

Getting Help and Opting Out

For support at any time, reply HELP to any message from a DEFENSEWERX number, email info@defensewerx.org, or call (850) 842-2808. 

If you no longer want to receive text messages, you may reply to any text message with STOP, QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE. As a person-to-person communication service, opt-out requests are specific to each conversation between you and one of our employees and their associated phone number. After unsubscribing, we may send you confirmation of your opt-out via text message. 

To resume messages from a number you previously opted out of, reply START to that number.
